Families Are Strong–Networking and Social Media for Families

Families Are Strong is part of the Family Supports program of Community Living Trent Highlands. It is set up to acknowledge the amazing job that you do caring for that important person in your life who lives with a developmental disability, and to provide you with a platform to connect and learn together with other families.

Parents and caregivers from any of our communities can join this support group.

Private Facebook Group

We offer a private Facebook group, just for you. Every one of you has something to offer and you can share those gifts, resources, insights and support with one another in this group. It is a safe place to acknowledge the realities of caring for someone living with a disability, as well as a place to uplift, inspire and even laugh.

We also keep you up to date on current resources and events through the Facebook group. You can find the group here. Just request to join via Facebook and we will take care of the rest.

Events

We host informative community events throughout the year. These events are free of charge and are currently only held in Peterborough. Healthy snacks are provided; child care is available upon request. Events vary in topic and format and aim to provide:

• Resources: Focusing on the important areas when planning for today and for the future.
• Connections: An opportunity to meet and connect with other parents and caregivers.
• Inspiration: To be informed, uplifted and inspired.
