Life Share
The Life Share Program is a residential option that enables families or individuals to share their homes and provide support to a person who has an intellectual disability. It is so much more than providing a room in your home. Being a home provider means you’re giving someone with a developmental disability “a place in your heart, a place in your home.”
Life Share helps adults with developmental disabilities who are 18 and older live as independently as possible in their communities. LifeShare offers a safe and healthy home for people who live with a developmental disability. Interested families undergo a thorough screening and intake process and then are matched with Life Sharers who have similar interests. With the support and guidance of Life Share staff, Providers encourage the people living in their home to take part in their family and become active members of their community.
How to Become a Life Share Provider
We recruit caring families or individuals who are committed and interested in opening their homes to adults who have an intellectual disability on a full-time basis. This partnership fosters growth and independence while providing a safe and nurturing environment. We also recruit Respite Providers to provide support on weekends or for longer periods of time as needed.
If you are interested in becoming a Life Share provider and having a person we support living in your home, please contact our Lindsay office at 705-328-0464.
How to ACCESS the Life Share Program
The Life Share program is funded through MCCSS which means that all referrals for this service come through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).
